December 2005
December fishing on Sabine lake was very good the first half of the month still working the birds
over shrimp. The bite early morning is great to about 10:00AM then we start fishing the north east
end on the lake. Most of the month we've had great catches of speckle trout in 1 ft to 4 ft of water,
with all the fish between 16 to 24 inches. We have been drifting on mussel clam and mud flats that are
holding schools of mullet. Best bait has been morning glory and red shad assassin with 1/16th jig head working very slow.
Redfish have slowed the first part of the month with the exception of some big schools of redfish came out
of the marshes for 2 weeks.
The marsh fishing has slowed down with the low tides. Sheephead and drum are doing very well in the Entergy
outfall canal old gulf states with limits being caught. Keith lake has been good for speckle trout at the end
of the month with as good as it could be. The Sabine jetties is hot with big red fish on cut mullet also big sheephead and drum.
When the wind lays the mother 12 mile rig has been great on white trout and drum. Happy new year!

November 2005
Fishing on Sabine Lake was as good as it gets for November. We have lots of birds working the
whole month catching lots of trout under them. We did have some top water action in the early mornings
on white chug bugs. We did better on bigger trout until 10:00 am on most days, but over all the fishing
was the best early in the morning. The shrimp have moved out for the most part but some are still up to the north side of the lake.
We've had great catches of red fish and flounder too. The flounder run is still on and may last a few more weeks
if the weather does not turn too bad. Good fishing along the shoreline of Louisiana and the channel to the jetties.
The mussel flats and mud flats have also been producting good catches. The bigger speckle trout have been feeding
on schools of mullet when the south winds blows. The jetties have been doing very good on over-sized red fish while
sheepshead and drum are showing each day. The white/sand trout should be showing up at the short rigs in December.
We also caught a lot of them mixed in the the speckled trout and the red fish. Best baits have been white grubs
and D O A white shrimp with lighter weights most of the month.

October 2005
October was a short month and we did not get to run trips until the 15th of the month. But the last 2 week have been great
on Sabine Lake and Keith Lake. We are catching lots of speckled trout and a lot of them are small but we are managing to get
keepers and some limits on some trips. The birds are showing up early morning until midday and in the afternoon.
Best bait has still been 3/4 oz spoons slow roll on the bottom and also plastics. Last week the red fish came out off
the marshes on the last cold front. This week we will have a northern come in and and the fishing on Sabine Lake is going
to get better after this front.
We had great trips on flounder this last week with limits to 4 lbs.
and a lot of 16 to 17 inch fish. The flounder fishing is going it improve next month as I always fish for the
flounder the whole month of November. We also did great on the trout. Working the mussel and shell flats we were able
to get on some very nice specks feeding on mullet this week. Jetty fishing has beed tough with the wind, but big
bull red on the east and west side and the black drum and sheepshead are showing up daily.

September 2005
Fishing on Sabine lake was very much like the month of August. I have been fishing early morning on top
water; catching good slot redfish in the shallows and marshes, then switching to plastics and spoons late morning.
Trout have been pretty steady on live bait, that is until the last few weeks of the month. We packed up and
got out of Port Arthur just before the hurricane hit.
Look for the bull reds to be running through the Sabine Jetties as well as the surf for October. The tides will be
higher than normal for the first few weeks of October and the flats will be churned up for a little while, but fishing
for us will start back up around the middle of the up-coming month. We will be concentrating on areas that were the
least affected by the hurricane and the offshore fishing should remain consistant for October.

August 2005
Fishing on Sabine lake has been very steady for the month of August. I have been fishing early morning on top
water; blue chrome, spitfire she dogs catching limits of redfish on the flats. I am still using 3/4 oz. spoons to get to the bottom. Sometimes the
ladyfish are not as bad as the were in July. The bite is best at daylight until 8:00 am then we have to move
and fish over shell and mud flats till about 10:00 am. We switch to live mullet at that point fishing in 10 to 20 ft.
of water, but this won't last much longer with the specks moving around and laying their eggs.
The fronts will start coming in mid September and the birds will start working in the main
part of the lake. Flounder fishing is starting to get a little better. We have been catching some flounder this
week on the Louisiana shoreline as well as a mix of speckled trout and reds.
The Sabine Jetties and the beach was as good as it gets. We had a great week fishing catching specks to 7 lbs. in
wading the surf. In mid August the light southeast wind moved on the beach just like the old days.
The short rigs are still producing good speckled trout and the triple tail moved in just before the storm.
We will be going back out there in a few day for some more triple tail as they will be here until mid September.

July 2005
July fishing on Sabine Lake was a lot like June was but the last week the birds stopped working the bait in
the lake. We had great trips in the lake working the birds the first 3 weeks of the month on the speckled
trout. The trout have been small this month catching good numbers of them but not a lot of keepers. The fish
were feeding on shrimp and ribbon fish in the lake and we also had a lot of black tips and sand sharks mixed
in with the fish.
The best bait worked under the birds was a silver spoon in both the 3/4 and 1 oz. with a slow roll retreive on
the bottom to get to the keeper trout and redfish. The redfish are schooling in the middle of the lake on calm
days. I am still fishing the intercostals with the best baits being croaker, mullet, and shad while fishing in
15 to 40 ft. of water. The best bite has been on incoming tides.
The Sabine jetties is a hit and miss and the short rigs too. We catch trout one day then no fish the next.
The Mother, 12 miles east of Sabine Jetties is producing great speckle trout at night, with fish to 7 lbs.
Expect great trout fishing coming up in August as this is the best month for free-line fishing with live bait.

June 2005
June fishing was as good as it gets; we are still doing very good under the birds in the lake. The fishing has
been better in the morning before the wind comes up. All month the birds were working on and off. The best
is top water early and then go to soft plastics after that. I am still doing very well in the intercostals.
Fishing in 15 to 40ft with the best bait being mullet and croaker free-lined. All bites have been on the incoming
tides all around the Sabine Lake. The marshes in Bessie Heights have been producing a lot red fish
and again we are doing good on top water early in the morning then switching to live mullet after that wind the sun come
up. Keith Lake has been great for early morning top-water action with the redfish on the flats. Flounder fishing
has been good at Keith Lake and the me Louisiana shoreline at the bayous and all the cuts. In the marshes, live mullet
and plastic have been working around the 12 miles rigs last week. We had a good number of trout to 7lbs. on live bait,
but the sharks are still hanging around that area. We had a great trip this month at the Sabine Jetties using
live shrimp, mullet, and top water very early. The bite is very early and over at 9 AM. We have also been doing
very well in the surf. When the wind will lay, Offshore fishing is great we had great trips and the snapper fishing
has picked up and the ling are 20 miles out. Also doing good on the range markers in the shipping lane with triple tail
showing up on the weed lines, but haven't had a good fish on yet but they are coming in. Looking for a great July,
please have a happy 4th of July and have a safe weekend.

May 2005
May fishing on Sabine during the first weeks was much better with birds working over shrimp early in
the month. We did good on the speckle trout and red fish under birds on red shad and glow plastic
also top water was best in the mornings. I am still doing well on the mud flats and the mussels and shell,
also the red fish are starting to school in the lake. On a calm day look for shad running for their life.
Flounder fishing has been great in the cuts and marshes, Bessie Heights, and Keith Lake. The last week of May
the fish have going to live bait in the deep water 15 to 25ft. We caught solid trout on live porgie, mullet, and croaker in
the deeper water. Sabine jetties is hit and miss with some days doing well on live shrimp and mullet on the other days.
The short rigs are loaded with gafftops and sharks, very few trout. Also big bull reds are being caught at the jetties.
Offshore fishing has picked up with catches of snapper to 20 lbs., big kings, and ling. We been fishing up to 60 miles
offshore at the block 453 finding good snapper in 90 ft of water.

April 2005
Fishing in April was great for flounder, redfish, and a few specks the first half of the month. We had
cold fronts come in 3 per week. The flounder run is in full swing as we fished the Louisiana shoreline
and all the bayous; also Keith Lake and Bessie Heights are holding good numbers of flounder
and redfish. The month of May is going to be great. We have a lot of white shrimp and birds
going to work over the shrimp. Sabine jetties has been great for bull reds. Offshore fishing
has been great when we get out with limits snapper to 20 lbs. Big kingfish and big ling
showing up 60 miles offshore around oil platforms.

March 2005
Sabine Lake fishing was very strong for the first 2 weeks of march. We were doing very well on speckle
trout and red fish. The last 2 weeks were tough, with the northern and the rain coming in it was hit
and miss. The flounder bite was good but that slowed with the low water levels. The flounder bite should
be great for all of April. The Sabine jetties fishing has picked up on red fish and some speckled trout
when the wind lays. March was very tough month with lots of northern wind and rain. April should better
a much better month. Snapper season opens April 21 and we will start fishing offshore. The outlook for
snapper is very good with some king fish showing up 50 miles offshore. So fishing is looking up for the spring.

February 2005
Sabine lake started out slow the first 2 weeks of the month we had same conditions on the
lake as January fishing. By mid February the speckle trout fishing picked up real well.
The best fishing was the Louisiana shore line we have been catching good numbers of fish
to 7 lbs on mud flats and shell reefs. Sabine plastics red shad and morning glory also slow
sinking baits. Flounder fishing has also picked up. The best day we had was 17 fish to 21
inches. The flounder spring run is getting started early. Red fishing is also still do very well,
catching them as we trout fish. Sabine jetties still producing red drum, sheephead and gulf trout
still at the short rigs. Offshore fishing has been slow, I have not been so i have no reports.
Snapper season opens April 21 we will be fishing offshore a lot.

January 2005
Sabine fishing has been excellent for red fish with some trout being caught on sabine plastics and top water.
We have been working the shorelines and doing very well on red fish. The fish have been over isolated reefs,
mussel and mud flats on the Louisiana shoreline and in the Sabine pass channel. Sabine jetties fishing is great
when the wind lays; catching red fish sheepshead and drum. Gulf trout catches at the short rigs have also been very good.
